Spectrum broadband internet runs on a cable network. Fiber covers most of the route, and coax handles the last stretch into your home. The Spectrum hub page has a shorter overview.

After the 12 months, each priced plan moves to the standard rate in the next table, and taxes are extra. Source: https://www.spectrum.com/internet and https://www.spectrum.com/packages, checked Oct 16, 2026 from a Dallas, TX 75201 connection. Spectrum says "The prices shown here are the real offers available to you today," and the exact price is confirmed once you enter an address. Upload speeds and standard rates come from Spectrum's broadband disclosure, covered below. The offer terms read: "Limited-time offer; subject to change; new residential customers only (no Spectrum service in past 30 days). Standard rates apply after promo period or service change... Activation fee additional; taxes may apply."
These are the national retail rates from Spectrum's broadband disclosure, the prices you move to when a promotion ends. They don't include taxes or government fees.

2 Gig and 7 Gig are only sold in some areas. We checked Spectrum's city pages on Oct 16 and 17, 2026, and 2 Gig showed at $80/mo for a year in 16 of the 170 cities, including Dallas, Fort Worth, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Reno. 7 Gig turned up only in Louisville and Lexington, KY, at $140/mo for a year, with a $185/mo standard rate that includes Invincible WiFi. Every tier lists 19 ms latency. Source: https://www.spectrum.com/policies/spectrum-broadband-disclosure, checked Oct 16, 2026.
Download speed covers what comes to you: streams, downloads, web pages. Upload is what you send, like video calls, cloud backups and large files you post. Spectrum's plans up to 1 Gig upload at 20 to 35 Mbps, while 2 Gig uploads at about 1,002 Mbps, so the gap shows up if you send a lot of big files. Latency is the delay before data starts moving. It matters for gaming and calls, and Spectrum lists 19 ms.
Spectrum doesn't guarantee its advertised speeds, though its own measurements at the modem come in above them: 113 down / 23 up on Internet 100, 572 / 23 on 500 and 1,045 / 40 on 1 Gig. Expect less over WiFi than at the modem. Source: broadband disclosure, checked Oct 16, 2026.

Source: https://www.spectrum.com/policies/spectrum-broadband-disclosure and https://www.spectrum.com/internet, checked Oct 16, 2026. The Invincible WiFi price comes from Spectrum's internet page: $30/mo, or $20/mo if you already have Advanced WiFi.
The modem links your home to Spectrum's network and comes free on every plan. The router is what spreads that connection over WiFi to your phones, laptops and TVs. Spectrum's router is called Advanced WiFi. It costs $10/mo on Internet 100 and 500 and nothing extra on 1 Gig. Skip the router and you can still run one device off the modem with an Ethernet cable.
Most homes can set up Spectrum themselves with the Express Connect Kit. Spectrum says it takes under 10 minutes. The kit has a modem, a WiFi router, coax and Ethernet cables, power cords and instructions. You can pick it up at a Spectrum store or have it shipped. First you sign the Terms and Conditions, which arrive by email or text.
Some homes need a technician, which costs extra. For gig speeds you need a compatible modem (list at spectrum.net/modem). Once you're online, change your WiFi name and password in the My Spectrum App or on Spectrum.net.
In former Cox areas, cox.com sells Spectrum's Panoramic WiFi gateway, a modem and router in one that supports WiFi 6. StayConnect WiFi adds 4G cellular backup and a backup battery for $20/mo more. The battery lasts up to 8 hours, and cellular speeds slow after 100GB a month. On spectrum.com the same idea is called Invincible WiFi.
Away from home, Spectrum Internet customers can use 4M+ Spectrum WiFi Access Points. Spectrum Mobile customers get 45M, according to Spectrum.
Internet Assist costs $15/mo for NSLP, CEP or SSI households and $25/mo for other households that qualify. You get up to 50 Mbps with no data cap and no contract.

You can also use your own modem or gateway (see Spectrum.com/policies/docsis-modem-policy). For gig speeds it has to be on Spectrum's compatible list at spectrum.net/support/internet/compliant-modems-charter-network.
Check your current speed with Spectrum's test at Spectrum.com/internet/speed-test.
The My Spectrum App lets you pay bills, enroll in Auto Pay and paperless billing, troubleshoot equipment, view your plan and add services. With Advanced WiFi you can also manage and secure your home network from the app (spectrum.com/contact-spectrum).
