Side-by-side comparison of cable internet plan options

Prices checked Oct 16, 2026 on provider sites

Xfinity and Spectrum are both cable internet providers, and both describe their networks as fiber-powered, with coaxial cable making the final connection to your home. Which one you can get depends on your address, and some neighborhoods have both. Where you do have a choice, the main differences are how long the price lasts and what's included with WiFi.

Prices side by side (as listed on each provider's site, Oct 16, 2026)

Comparison data
Speed Xfinity Spectrum
100 Mbps not offered in the current lineup $30/mo for 1 year (Internet 100)
300 Mbps $45/mo for 5 years not offered in the current lineup
500 Mbps $60/mo for 5 years $40/mo for 1 year (Internet 500)
1 Gig $70/mo for 5 years $60/mo for 1 year (Internet 1 Gig)

Xfinity's prices require autopay from a stored bank account and paperless billing, and they're for new Xfinity Internet customers. After Spectrum's first year, its standard rates apply. Spectrum doesn't publish those standard rates on its internet page, so we can't show the year-two price. Taxes and fees are extra with both.

Which one costs less?

For the first year, Spectrum's headline prices are lower at 500 Mbps and 1 Gig. Two things narrow the gap:

  • WiFi: on Spectrum's 500 Mbps plan, in-home WiFi is a $10/mo add-on, which brings it to $50/mo. Xfinity includes WiFi equipment.
  • Year two and later: Xfinity's price is locked for five years if you keep autopay and paperless billing. Spectrum moves to its standard rate after 12 months.

If you plan to stay at the same address for several years, add up the full cost over that time, not just the first month.

Which one can you get?

That depends on your street. In our city guides, the comparison sites place Xfinity at almost every address in Miami and Houston, while Spectrum is the main cable network in Dallas. Call (888) 428-0573 and we'll check which one reaches your address.
